Manhole cover

Urban centers such as municipalities, water and telecommunication organizations use cast iron caps to cover their manholes. The use of cast iron caps increases dust and the ability to steal these caps. The theft and breaking of the caps lead to various costs, including repair costs, damage to vehicles, and the risk of citizens’ lives. Attempts have been made to reduce cap theft by using different methods, but cap theft still continues and increases costs. Using strong materials such as ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) to produce suitable caps minimizes the risk of abduction. Also, the use of fibers in this type of caps makes them resistant to impact and loads. In this research, the advantages of using strong concrete in covering manholes have been investigated.
